In Loving Memory: Mike "The Hammer" Edwards

"Forever in our hearts"

It's hard to explain Mike to people who never met him. When you first saw him - this big, intimidating guy - you'd never guess he was probably more nervous to say hello than you were. Some mistook his quietness for rudeness, but it was just anxiety. He was always trying. But once you were in Mike's circle, once you became his training partner, he would do anything to help you improve. His dedication was incredible. He studied constantly - MMA, BJJ, kickboxing, boxing, catch wrestling - and his technique in everything was flawless. Almost like he had too much to pick from. He never missed a session. James once picked him up for training before a fight and Mike was on crutches. He limped to the mats, sat down and said "come on then." That was Mike. His ground and pound got so good because he had a punch bag but nowhere to hang it - so he just hit it on the floor. Most would have let it gather dust. Not Mike. To James Wallis, Mike was his first MMA and grappling coach, his cornerman for every fight, and the man he started KGB GYM with. The memories will last forever. Raise a glass to Welsh MMA legend Mike "The Hammer" Edwards.
